St George’s Day Shoot and Meet
April 21 @ 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm£58
Save the Date – 21st April 2017!
Prince David Lodge will be having our annual St George’s Day Shoot and Meet on Friday 21st April 2017 (the Friday closest to the day itself) as the last two events have both been very successful
We have moved it to a Friday this year so people can stay over at one of the shooting lodges if they wish to and enjoy the bar!
New and novice shooters are very welcome for the day. Pirbright has insurance to cover non-SGC holders and new/novice shooters on site. There is also no requirement for your own insurance (normally part of CPSA membership or similar) so it’s a great location to introduce new shooters to our sport!
Meet at 1:00pm outside Sit Perpetuum Temple, Bisley Camp, Queens Road, Bisley GU24 0PB
Travel in cars (must be pre-registered, see notes below) to Mainstone Hill Shooting Ground on Pirbright Barracks to arrive around 1:30pm
Please note that the shooting ground is on an active military base. Therefore everyone wishing to shoot must complete the form below with First Name, Surname and Car Registration at least a week beforehand
Basically, if your name is not on the list you are not getting in, and it is enforced by people with automatic weapons with the legal authority to shoot you!
One reason we are going to Mainstone Hill is that they cater for novice shots. You do not need to own a Shotgun Certificate so novice shooters are very, very welcome. Please invite anyone you think might be interested, a mason or not
1:30pm Coffee, tea, and a bacon butty is included in the cost of the shoot
1:45pm Safety brief and ground introduction
70 bird shoot. We will be split into smaller groups, there are 14 stands and score cards will be provided. A group will start from each stand and move round, it is a linear ground so very, very difficult to get lost
Cost for 70 bird shoot, excluding cartridges, is £30
Please note, fibre wads only! They do check cartridges regularly and if you don’t have any then there are cartridges for sale in the clubhouse
We will aim to finish around 3:45pm, we must be off site by 4:00pm (again enforced by the guys in camouflage with bigger guns than us)
5:00pm at the Sit Perpetuum Temple, Bisley Camp, Queens Road, Bisley GU24 0PB
Details as per the Summons. There is a robing area and bathroom inside the building but no bar etc
Please note that the dress code is traditional dark suit, white tie, black/craft/provincial tie or smart shooting attire (including shirt and tie, no jeans etc)
Details of the meeting will follow nearer the time. Those not eligible to join in the meeting are welcome to relax at the bar at the Artists Rifle Club where we will join them for dining
7:00pm start at the Artists Rifle Club, Bisley Camp, Queens Road, Bisley GU24 0PB
Please note, dining will only be ordered for those completing the request on the attendance form below, or those who contact our Assistant Secretary directly (email@example.com)
Once ordered, if a meal is not consumed and the Lodge gets charged for it (i.e. not cancelled in sufficient time) then the charge will still be made
Starter – Melon, Palma Ham & Rocket Salad
Main – Beouf Bourguignon
Dessert Homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding, Cream Custard or Ice Cream
Individual Cheese and Biscuits
Cost of the meal is £28 per person, please use the online form below to order your meal
This will be a White Table, not a Festive Board so is open to non-Masons, partners and friends, all of whom will be made very welcome. Those non-Masons who wish to shoot and dine with us can relax in the bar at the Artists Club while we have our meeting
If you are planning to attend you MUST fill out this form by 8:00pm on 17th April 2017 at the absolute latest
Please fill out one form per person, including members of Prince David Lodge
Car Registration is required by the MoD for access to the shooting site
You should receive an automatic acknowledgement once your form is entered. A real person will look at it shortly and send further details and a confirmation
A personal request from one of our members:
Some of you may already know that I have been set up to challenge myself, on the upcoming event for the 2019 Festival by abseiling down Guildford Cathedral on the 6th May, please come along if you want to see a grown man screaming like a little girl.
Any monies raised will be assigned to our own Lodge’ relief chest, so if you can, please give generously not forgetting to tick the gift aid, its very simple just click the link below.
Thanks for your support
